How do you get your team to continuously improve?

It's an important question, and one I've thought of a lot since attending a recent event on Toyota's Improvement Kata.

On Thursday night, ProductTank NYC held a meetup with two stellar presenters—Saad Khatri, Director of Product at Capital One and Richard Banfield, CEO of Fresh Tilled Soil—each discussing case studies in driving continuous product improvement.

While their presentations were too complex to do justice in a brief writeup, they each stressed the need for products to have a clear vision, a strategy for reaching it, and measurements that assess progress.

But of course that's highly reductive, and doesn't touch the nuance each brought to topics such as the need for experiential diversity in design teams, and the challenges of measuring improvement in user experience.

If you have time, I can't recommend their presentations enough, which should soon be up on ProductTank NYC's site.

Did you attend the event? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the presentations.
